Kamen Teacher!
So about how Kamen Teacher is amazing...?! I totally was not at all intending on watching Kamen Teacher, but I turned it on out of curiosity during the first episode and was drawn in by Taiga. His acting was amazing, and I ended up continuing with the series to see more of Taiga. I was seriously impressed both with his facial expressions and such (he was awesome in the Bakaleya movie, also, considering how few lines he had, but he didn't have much chance to shine) and his delivery, as well-- he's definitely improving! The second episode was sort of blah, and then I went to America, though, so I didn't know what was up until I got back... and then I got hit with episode five! Oh my goodness. *____* That episode was, as yomimashou put it so eloquently, everything I didn't realize I was missing from Bad Boy J. Also, I thought Fuma was pretty okay! I was impressed with Kishi, too, unexpectedly! And even Jesse is getting better, I think!

Is anyone else here watching? What did you think? I'm curious to hear other people's opinions... and I can't wait until episode 6! Only... five more days |D

In personal news, I'm getting over my jetlag and went to my local festival last weekend! I'll try to make a post about it with photos a little later. ^^

I think it's a shame that Kamen Teacher started out kind of... eh. The premise is on just that side of ridiculous, and either you're into it or you're not, but I am glad I stuck with it, because we're getting to know more about the characters, and things are coming together a bit better than what could have been anticipated after the first episode. XD

Yeah... honestly, it basically had nothing to make me want to watch besides Fuma and Taiga XD; The premise seems ridiculous, it has a cast of notoriously not-that-great actors, and it's in a timeslot not really known for quality |D But now that we're finding out a lot more about the characters, I'm actually incredibly drawn in and charmed. I could do without Gouta's ~manpain over the kid who died in a way that was clearly not at all his fault, but all the students' problems are really intriguing to me, and I do appreciate his dynamic with them and with his desire not to hurt them at all. And like, for all that there is ~fanservice with Shishimaru and Kinzo... like, you actually get background on their relationship and their personalities and... they just did something right with it. I actually cried watching their backstory (lol I know I suck) which is something I really really was not expecting. So... I was really pleasantly surprised with the last few episodes!

Also: do you have a theory on who the ~black kamen teacher is? |D; I know I do but I'm curious as to what other people are thinking.

I kind of want it to be Saito Takumi's character? But I don't really have a lot of expectations/predictions for this series, honestly. I'm just letting it happen to me. XD

Okay I just checked the cast list and... who does he even play? I don't recognize the character name at all. XD; Is he the guy with the binders? Oh god it's been too long since Tenimyu and all those BL movies. |D;

But I guess we'll wait and see XD;; This series is definitely crazy XD;
Inez: [arashi] nino ~ dinoltgmars on August 5th, 2013 10:22 am (UTC)
Bahaha that was my reaction when I saw him on screen -- TAKUMI WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN THIS DRAMA. Though I guess I'm at an advantage because I saw him more recently in Maru's drama, Boys on the Run, so it was easier for me to recognize his face. XD I think he's the guy with the binders, yeah.

Ahahahaha what if it's Kinpatsu-sensei?
ミランダ (大丈夫): Fuma: laughfaded_lace on August 5th, 2013 10:31 am (UTC)
Yeah, now that I'm looking at still screencaps, I can totally see that it's him! But it never even crossed my mind to be on the lookout for him hahaha. Wow what the heck.

omg that would be the best ever. It would be like. Tsuka Darkness, the Kinpatsu-sensei version. It would seriously make my day if it was Kinpatsu-sensei... best part of the whole show. XD;

I can't believe I almost didn't keep watching after going to America... XD I can't wait for episode 6 either :3

...yeah, it's funny how I was the one who wanted to keep watching |D

Wow XD I watched the first ep, and yeah, my god, Tagia was amazing. But I, like, had to fastforward every time it was just Fujigaya's character on screen XD;;; he gave me horrible second-hand embarassement and so I haven't watched the second ep. It's encouraging that you like it so much, though, so maybe I'll download the rest and give it another shot :D
ミランダ (大丈夫): Tetsuya&Tatsuya: 絶対的絆faded_lace on August 5th, 2013 07:58 pm (UTC)
Episode 2 is pretty boring and episode 3 is a little more interesting in terms of plot and character development, but I'd say it gets better at 4. The episodes are only 20 minutes long, though, and honestly Fujigaya's character sort of grew on me as time went on (and you know for me that's saying something since I hate Fujigaya and I have no reason to like his dumbfuck character XD), so I'd say give it a shot before you start fast-forwarding, since it's not something really triggering.

BUT seriously Fuma's character and Kishi Yuta's characters' love is like... the sweetest most beautiful thing ever. I legit cried watching their backstory. I know you never believe me when I rec something to you but seriously for the love of god at least try to get to episode five. Their relationship is seriously beautiful.

I feel like Bakaleya also hit it's stride at episode 4, why does that keep happening? I'll download it once I'm back in japan and let you know what I think ^ ^

Which one is Kishi Yuta playing? The one that threatened Taiga in the first episode? He seemed to be following Fuma around a bit.
ミランダ (大丈夫): Chinen: musingfaded_lace on August 5th, 2013 11:13 pm (UTC)
I think it's hard for these really short dramas to get anywhere fast. Bad Boys J basically never hit any stride whatsoever, so. But do let me know.

He's Shishimaru, the "Shadow Man." The one who calls Fuma's character "Kin-chan."
britkit27: dancedancebritkit27 on August 6th, 2013 09:46 am (UTC)
This is true. Poor BBJ, it had some great characters and a good setup, but...

...Ok. That doesn't help right at the moment, but will I'm sure make sense once I'm actually watching it again XD
ミランダ (大丈夫): Taiga: uh huhfaded_lace on August 6th, 2013 09:50 am (UTC)
Yeah, it's pretty amazing how they managed to fuck up with Bad Boys J...

I don't remember the first episode all that well, but he is the one who says he'll sell Bon an idea for 100,000 yen. He's the only other Johnny in M4 besides Taiga and Fuma.
britkit27: mercury read a bookbritkit27 on August 6th, 2013 09:56 am (UTC)
Yeah...too many characters, very thin plot, let's not even get into the main romance... If they'd just stuck with the three main teams...?

Ah ha, ok, I think I know who he is then. Cool :D
ミランダ (大丈夫): Marius: onoesfaded_lace on August 6th, 2013 10:10 am (UTC)
Honestly, I could have done without Beast altogether. I don't think they added much because they basically didn't go into any character development at all. Danno's boyfriend had more backstory than Danno lol.

He's the one with the eyebrows and the ridiculous pompadour who looks like he's 12 despite actually being 17 irl lolol.
britkit27: fandom drinks teabritkit27 on August 6th, 2013 10:27 pm (UTC)
I liked them well enough, I just would have liked to know more about them. (I also still haven't finished the series because Amanda and I both got busy, fyi) Like, gokurakuchou's buddy who became number two, what was his deal and his backstory and how did he trip over Danno, etc, I would have like to know about that. Heck, how Danno come to power, what was Beast's main girl's (I can't remember her name) deal with Danno...I feel like there was a lot they could have done there that they didn't. Danno's boyfriend did have more backstory XD Those were some of the better episodes though. I really would have liked to know Hissa's history with Nights and Hiro, though. Like, that came totally out of left field and was never explained that I know of.

Lol, ok XD I think I've got who he is.
ミランダ (大丈夫): Tetsuya: skepticalfaded_lace on August 7th, 2013 12:28 am (UTC)
All that stuff that you're saying about Beast is why I'm saying I could have done without them. Without at least one or two of those things, their existence as a main group seemed pointless to me. Instead of taking time to explain those, they wasted a bunch of time on a group with no personality and actually detracted from time they could have been giving personalities and backstories to more of the characters who did count for anything. My point, I guess, is that Beast basically served no purpose besides as a plot point, but yet took up the amount of time of a character. They were a waste of time and budget.
britkit27britkit27 on August 7th, 2013 11:12 am (UTC)
Ah, I see.
ミランダ (大丈夫): Jun: thougtfulfaded_lace on August 7th, 2013 07:43 pm (UTC)
They just seemed like a throwaway. They had the potential to be good characters but they weren't. Even Kazu, after his short bit with Youji, had basically nothing. I guess my point is, I didn't feel like they contributed basically anything to the story. They were sort of like OVA character often are in anime movies; they have no character development or background and it's just really hard to care about them, you know?
britkit27: mercury free to flybritkit27 on August 8th, 2013 11:04 am (UTC)
That makes total sense. I guess like, I saw enough of the potential and was somehow invested enough that (were we to like magically remake BBJ as we often imagine doing with these series XD) I wouldn't want them to just disappear, I'd want to see them fulfill more of their potential as characters. But I agree the series did, like, nothing with them and it was super frustrating and I can see how that would make them hard to care about.
ミランダ (大丈夫): Nikaido: contemplativefaded_lace on August 9th, 2013 03:31 am (UTC)
It's not that I think that the series would be super better without them... my point was that if that's all the show's producers were willing to do then I'd rather they just not be there. As in, if there were two choices: A) the show stays the same or B) cut Beast and give everyone else more screentime, I'd choose B. That's generally how I feel about everything in dramas (and life): do it right or don't do it a all. If you can't be bothered/don't have the time/don't have the budget to do it right, there's no point in doing it. I'm not trying to say I hated Beast or would love the show 100x better without them because they suck, I'm just saying it felt lazy and wasteful to see how it was done, for me.
britkit27britkit27 on August 9th, 2013 10:03 pm (UTC)
They definitely did super half-ass Beast. I do understand your point of if they're barely going to go into the group there's not a whole lot of point to them being there. A lot of things about BBJ were really lazily done and Beast was definitely one of them.
ミランダ (大丈夫): Tetsuya: skepticalfaded_lace on August 10th, 2013 01:16 am (UTC)
Yeah... I just am annoyed since BBJ could have been really good... but instead is was half-assed. :| Tatsuya would be so disappoint in them. He says "che... imi wakannai" XD;
