Pairing: Noa x Ed
Warnings: het, movie!verse
Ed wasn't really sure why he saved the gypsy girl besides that it seemed the only thing he could do; his morals certainly would not allow him to let those men take her against her will, not after what he had let happen to Rose. In a way, actually, this girl, Noa, bore a striking resemblance to the last person Ed had seen, spoken to, in his home country, almost enough for him to believe that this was indeed the Rose of Munich, just as there were so many other faces that were the same and not the same as the people who, any longer, only existed in Ed's memory.
But, for whatever reason, Ed had saved her, and now he had to take care of her; keep her around, make sure that she didn't meet the fate of Rose, of Liore, of so many other things that he had "saved."
Of course, the time that he spent with Noa was punctuated with space-fillers and awkward silences. Ed had never been very good with those of the female persuasion; never quite grasped how to treat them, act around them, look at them, and now that he was left in the presence of a girl practically twenty-four-seven, his inability was blaringly obvious right in his face, and, no matter what he tried, he couldn't seem to fix it.
During one such moment when the two sat, staring off in opposite directions in an awkward silence, Noa spoke.
Ed looked over at her, surprised. "Yeah?"
She smiled shyly, looking down at her hands, which were clasped together in her lap. "Thank you for saving me."
Ed couldn't help but stare at her for a moment before breaking into as grin. "It was nothing."
